Sustainable development: a priority

The key word: reducing environmental impact

As France’s leading producer of household appliances, the environmental impact of its activities is a top priority for FagorBrandt. The Group takes its responsibilities seriously and has introduced measures to ensure that resources are used properly throughout a product’s life, from design through to recycling. The objective is to offer consumers products of irreproachable quality that incorporate genuine technological advantages, and have a minimal impact on the environment.

Starting with design

FagorBrandt adopts a pragmatic approach to eco-design: it aims to design products low in raw materials and energy use that can also be recycled. The driving principle for this policy is that every new product must be more recyclable than the one it replaces.

In our factories

Three of the Group’s five factories in France already have ISO 14001 certification (La Roche sur Yon, Lyon, Orléans) and the other two should obtain certification by the end of 2007 (Aizenay and Vendôme). Specialist FagorBrandt teams regularly audit Group suppliers at local and international level. Their task is to ensure that suppliers respect the specifications given by the Group.

At user level

FagorBrandt prides itself on offering consumers appliances that significantly reduce water and electricity consumption. Today, 95% of FagorBrandt products are rated A and 5% A+.

Waste materials

FagorBrandt applies the ISO 14001 criteria to the letter in recycling products at the end of their lifecycle and is audited annually to maintain its certification. Wastes from all product production phases and life cycles are collected and recycled regardless of whether they are raw materials, wastes generated from transformation processes or packaging.
